Dear Legislators,
I’m writing to recommend you support the Greater Idaho movement’s attempts to get a hearing in the Oregon Legislature, either informational or in support of the movement’s bill, SJM 2.
As Sheriff, I hear from county residents their security concerns. I am not surprised that, so far, eleven eastern Oregon counties have chosen to approve a Greater Idaho ballot measure. I see several ways in which Idaho protects its citizens better than Oregon does. Idaho cooperates with federal law enforcement on immigration and illegal substances. Idaho is a law-and-order state on sentencing, backing the blue, wokeness, antifa, prosecuting arson, etc.
Idaho law respects the God-given right of armed self-defense.
It’s clear that western Oregon prefers policies that are not best for eastern Oregon, so I hope that you will respond to the Idaho House of Representatives’ decision in February to pass a Greater Idaho bill. Their bill authorizes official discussions with Oregon on the possibility of moving the state line to include parts of Oregon.
Signed,
